Summary
Motion Spotlight is a feature in Rokoko Studio Preview designed to speed up your workflow by surfacing existing motion capture assets from your personal archive. Instead of re-recording animations, you can use natural language to find specific movements across your entire library of clips.
What is Motion Spotlight?
Motion Spotlight allows you to search through your recorded clips by describing the action you need (e.g., "a person jumping," "boxing," or "dancing").β
Unlike traditional search tools that look for matching filenames, Motion Spotlight analyzes the actual animation data to find movements that fit your description.β
How to use Motion Spotlight
- Open Studio Preview: Navigate to the main dashboard (scene list) in the redesigned Studio Preview UI.β
- Locate the Search Bar: In the top right corner, find the field labeled "Find Smartsuit Pro clips with Motion Spotlight."β
- Enter a Prompt: Type a description of the motion you are looking for.
- Examples: "Karate," "Zombie attack," "Person in the shower," "Fighting."
- Hover over a thumbnail to preview the clip. The tool will generate a list of relevant results, displaying 3-second video previews of the detected motion.β
- Click a result to download and open the scene. The timeline will jump directly to the matching clip and timestamp.β
Navigating Results
Once you have opened a scene via Motion Spotlight, you have several options to continue your workflow:
- View Context: Because the tool opens the full scene, you can explore other clips recorded in that same session, which may contain similar or useful alternative takes.β
- Return to Search: To go back to your search results, click "Open another scene" in the UI. This preserves your list of results so you can select a different candidate.β
- New Search: You can re-enter your prompt or type a new one to generate a fresh list of candidates.
- Return to Dashboard: Click "All scenes" to return to the main Studio Preview front page.β
Best Practices & Tips
- Descriptive Prompts: Since the tool analyzes movement rather than text metadata, try describing the physical action even if your files are not named correctly.β
- Unexpected Matches: You may find "adjacent" motions. For example, a search for "fighting" might surface a "smashing" motion that works for your needs, even if it wasn't originally intended as a fight scene.β
- Editing: Once you locate a clip, you can immediately use Studio Preview features like Looping and Smoothing to refine the animation for your current project.β
Note: Motion Spotlight is currently in a working preview stage. Results and performance will continue to improve based on community feedback.β
