How to install the Blender plugin

Introduction

The Rokoko plugin for Blender is a powerful plugin that allows you to live stream data from Rokoko Studio to Blender, and retarget exported animations to a custom character.

Important!

If you encounter an issue with the current version of the Blender plugin, we recommend installing the Beta version of the plugin by clicking the button shown in the preferences window > Adds on > Rokoko Plugin

Requirements

In order to install the Blender plugin, you need:

• Blender 2.8 or higher

Important!

If you have already installed an earlier version of the plugin, please uninstall it first before installing the newest version.

 Uninstalling previous plugin

• In Blender go to Edit -> Preferences.
• Type "rokoko", find the previous plugin, expand it, and then click Remove.

• Restart Blender.

Now you are able to install the updated plugin.

 

If an issue appears when using the latest Blender version, use the following alternative method:

• Exit Blender.
• Navigate to C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\{blender_version}\scripts\addons and remove the Rokoko folder or uninstall it as shown above (if it is already installed).
• Install Plugin ( DO NOT INSTALL LIBRARIES YET) as shown below.
• Install Beta version
• Restart Blender
• Install Libraries
• Sign in via the Rokoko ID panel

Installing the plugin

• Download the updated plugin here. Please refer to the latest Blender plugin release notes for the installer. Do not unzip the file once it has been downloaded.
• In Blender go to Edit -> Preferences.
• In Preferences go to Add-ons > Install.

Blender 4.2 and later

• Select the downloaded zip file in the opened file browser and install it.

Enabling the plugin

• Enable “Rokoko Studio Live for Blender” by checking the checkbox next to it.
