This update introduces significant improvements to the core locomotion engine, bringing high-quality processing to real-time previews. Additionally, we have added a new Drift Fix filter to help correct root drift in recorded animations.
Real-time Locomotion Engine
Previously, the full quality of our locomotion engine—including accurate foot locking—was only visible after post-processing your clips. With this update, the locomotion engine now works in real time.
What does this mean?
- Natural Poses: Your avatar will exhibit more natural poses immediately during capture.
- Live Foot Lock: Foot lock processing and pose estimation now happen live, reducing the "sliding" effect often seen in raw mocap data.
- VTuber & Live Performance: If you use Rokoko for VTubing or live performances, your output will look vastly improved without needing post-correction.
How to use it
You do not need to enable any settings. These improvements are active automatically the next time you launch Rokoko Studio.
Note: While real-time quality is vastly improved, fully post-processed clips will still offer the highest possible fidelity.
Drift Fix Filter
The Drift Fix filter is a new post-processing tool designed to correct "root drift"—the phenomenon where your character slowly shifts away from the starting position over time, even if you haven't moved physically.
How it works
The filter adjusts the root drift of your animation over its entire duration, ensuring that the start and end points overlap.
When to use it
This filter works best when you physically start and stop your recording in the exact same location (e.g., standing directly in front of your computer).
How to apply the Drift Fix:
- Select your recorded clip in Rokoko Studio.
- Open the Details panel.
- Click the Drift Fix filter option.
- The clip will update to align the start and end positions.
⚠️ Important: Depending on the type of motion you are recording, Drift Fix may occasionally introduce artifacts. We recommend using this feature only when you identify noticeable drift in a clip where the start and end positions should match. We will continue to improve this feature based on community feedback.
